Joseph P. Pirrello, a certified public accountant and an attorney, has over thirty years of tax and accounting experience with a specialization in consulting and tax planning for closely held businesses and owners. Before starting Fortunato & Pirrello, LLC, Joe was a Tax Partner at a regional accounting firm and also had managed the New Jersey tax practice for a national accounting firm. Joe has advised clients in such areas as the structuring of business organizations, including the purchase or sale of a business, corporate and partnership taxation, establishing retirement plans, real estate investment tax planning and taxation of U.S. residents working abroad. Joe has assisted clients with estate planning and the probate process, including estate tax filings and financial planning for Seniors. He has represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service and State taxing authorities. Joe has lectured on various tax and accounting topics before such groups as the NJ Bar Association, National Society of Financial Planners and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.
He has been a professor in the Accounting and Taxation Department of William Paterson University and is a frequent guest lecturer on real estate taxation topics at New York University. Joe received a Juris Doctorate (JD) from Seton Hall University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science (BS) from the University of Rhode Island. He is a member of the Tax Division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is a Director and active member of various charitable organizations formed to protect the health and welfare of children.
